My client is a Top 100 law firm, with a very strong offering in advising professionals in the health, medical and care sector, which includes situations where the appropriate regulatory body is involved and ultimately which may proceed to an inquest. Acting for clients nationally, matters dealt with are frequently of media interest, and the work will be interesting and varied. They're hoping to hire someone in the 3-15 years PQE bracket to join a partner led team, but they're obviously assessing applicants on merit of their experience to date.
The core skills required to undertake this role are client representation and advocacy, and so traditionally recruits have come from a range of backgrounds including criminal defence, sometimes employment law, or regulatory work. Having a demonstrable interest in the health sector is important if for no other reason than it'll add to your natural inquisitiveness and desire to learn if you're retraining into this new field. Ideal candidates will have sector experience, but that seems unlikely, so those with a strong technical background and good soft skills are encouraged to apply.
Clients are a mix of professional individuals and institutional clients so having strong client skills is vitally important. Eloquence in both spoken and written word is also important as whilst the will be some advocacy there will also be a good amount of written representation.
There'll not be out of hours call out, nor regular travel with the role. Hybrid working means you'll be expected in the office likely 2 days a week. Remote working means quite a lot of the representation work can be done online without having to attend different locations in person, so it really should be an attractive career move for someone who has the skills but who is tired of the hack of criminal defence.
Contact me in confidence to discuss further.
Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
