PLANNING LAWYER - LEEDS

Unusual opportunity in a mid-tier firm which has a small Planning offering as part of its Real Estate department. The specialist planning skills fit well given the size and breadth of the firms property practise and client base, but admittedly it is often regarded as more of a big firm specialism. They're wanting to recruit another Solicitor, but they're keeping the PQE banding wide in recognition of the difficulty in finding planning lawyers, not least because the market for those skills is strong at the moment!

This unit acts for a range of developers, landowners, individuals, interest groups and public authorities, across a range of sectors including retail and leisure, housebuilding, sport, commercial, office and industrial, so a really diverse base. Work undertaken includes strategic advice on planning and environmental considerations, planning enforcement, permitted development, conservation areas and heritage issues, Section 106 and highways agreements, and corporate support.

Suitable candidates will have some planning law experience to date be that a Trainee seat or PQE, gained in private practice or the public sector, and will be enthusiastic about the planning sector and the opportunities within it for a law firm. You'd be joining a mid-tier firm where you can achieve a work-life balance, and enjoy being part of the firm day to day, yet still be visible in the department.

NQs will be integrated and supervised to ensure their ongoing development. More experienced candidates can be given varied work to do and get fully involved in client relationships, marketing and the direction of the unit. The role can be crafted around your level of experience so feel free to make contact for a confidential discussion.

Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
