Relatively junior Private Client Solicitor wanted by one of the largest and most successful departments outside London, which has a leading reputation for the work it does for complex, high value estates, many of which are long standing clients of the firm. This is a chance for exposure to high quality work, alongside enthusiastic colleagues, and with scope for future progression to Associate or Managing Associate.
This firm is a very well respected brand, and an enigma in the market in many ways given it's unique culture and yet diverse range of service lines, at it's very core being an absolute commitment to acting for private clients. If you are committed to a career as a Private Client specialist and you want to work with some of the best technical experts in their fields then this brand should really stand out to you.
The role will be focused on high value and technical private client work revolving around capital tax planning, the use of trusts, asset protection and succession issues generally. You'll also be drafting wills and letters of wishes, powers of attorney, trusts, deeds of appointment and advancement, and advising on the use of life insurance with trusts in estate planning. All of it is decent work.
Suitable candidates will have dealt with a breadth of private client matters to date, preferably including complex estates of high value, estates which include agricultural and/or business property, taxable estates, and intestacies. You will be comfortable with a good level of client contact, and will enjoy building relationships and providing excellent client care as these are very much the focus of what this firm is all about.
The STEP qualification is desirable but not essential, though the firm would like you to obtain this if you haven't already.
Lawyers from Tier 1 brands with strong reputations for HNW work will be an obvious fit here. That said, there are plenty of very capable Private Client specialists in regional law firms who will be considered on the merits of their experience, and this firm prides itself on being objective, and in being a truly supportive and inclusive employer. If you've got a good kernel of experience then I'd encourage you to apply rather than making any assumptions from a fear of a lack of interest.
Northern based, the firm supports hybrid and flexible working though more junior lawyers with certainly initially be encouraged to attend the Leeds office several times a week to ensure you're getting the support and guidance you need to keep developing and fulfilling your potential. A further reduced expectation of attendance at the offices may become appropriate as you establish yourself in the department - workable solutions can be discussed for the right candidate, this employer will always try to be constructive.
